A stabbing injured party was airlifted to Tauranga Hospital in a severe condition.
The Westpac Waikato Air Ambulance flew the Waikato Hospital Intensive Care Unit transport team to Whakatane to retrieve a man in his early 30s who was concerned in an assault in Waimana, 27km southeast of Whakatane.
An air ambulance spokesperson said the man was stabbed in the leg, apparently in his home, and taken to Whakatane Hospital.
