A pack of pitbulls on the loose are looming people in a small Northland town.
Rangers were hunting the dogs in the settlement of Mahuta Gap, 12km southwest of Dargaville.
Four of the dogs had already been shot, but farmers know of at least three more, the Northern Advocate information.
The dogs had chase a motorbike rider, teenage girls horseriding on the beach and a farmer, and had attacked a rottweiller.
