Gas cylinders blast causing fire in ChCh

fire_engineGas cylinders have reportedly blast in a fire on Tower Junction in Christchurch. Fire Officer Riwai Grace says the fire is in a container but the building has not been recognized. A ute near by has also gone up in flames.

He says there are a large number of gas cylinders and police have vacated the area. Grace says two firefighters have been wounded and have been transferred to hospital. They are both in constant conditions.

He says there are reports of power outages but it's not clear at this stage whether it was caused by the blaze. Lines company Orion says the power is out in Sydenham and lower parts of Cashmere.
