PARIS, FRANCE - A Chinese student stabbed 1 person to death and injured 3 others at a university in southern France on Wednesday before being seized by police, the public prosecutor said.
The attacker, a 26-year old male also a student at Via Domitia University in Perpignan, had recently been released from a psychiatric hospital, local media said.
The student stabbed a female secretary at the university in the neck as well as chest before turning on 2 teachers and a fellow student who tried to hold down him, prosecutor Jean-Pierre Dreno said.
The secretary died because of injuries, but the 3 other victims did not appear to be badly wounded, he added. The reasons for the attack were not immediately identified.
