At most 12 people have been killed and about 20 wounded in two bomb explosions near a police compound in north-western Pakistan, officials say. The blasts happened in rapid succession in the town of Bannu, several 260km (160 miles) south-west of Islamabad.Unverified reports told the blasts were caused through suicide bombers. On Wednesday, a suicide bomber killed around 12 people in the north-western Khyber tribal area. Most of the dead were police officers.
The 2 bombs went off just minutes apart close to the Bannu training centre on Thursday evening, officials said. At least 6 police officers were among those killed in the blasts.
