Mother, 2 Children Killed In Train Crash

A local mother and her two young children were killed on Monday at a dangerous railroad crossing.

Investigators are trying to figure out why the family was driving across the tracks as the train came barreling towards them.

Family friends said that Melissa Johnson, 34, had just picked up her 6- and 9-year-old sons from her daughter's house in Putnam County.

Officials said Johnson pulled out of a private driveway, over right in front of an Amtrak train and killing the family instantly.
