Official: 9 killed in Conn. warehouse shooting


A warehouse driver who was asked to leave his job at a beer dispenser went on a shooting run riot Tuesday morning that left nine people dead, as well as himself, and others injured, company and government officials said.

The add up to of dead was confirmed by a Connecticut government bureaucrat who was not authorized to speak publicly and spoke to The Associated Press on the condition of anonymity. Establishment were notifying victims' relations before confirming the number of deaths, state police Lt. J. Paul Vance said.

The driver, Omar Thornton, had worked at the dispenser for a couple of years and been called in for a disciplinary hearing, said John Hollis of the Connecticut Teamsters, who was with corporation officials at the scene of the shooting.
