China tells U.S. to keep out of South China Sea dispute
China tells the United States not to get in the way in a regional argument over claims to the South China Sea, saying it would only make difficult the matter.

Japan's NHK TV report last week that the United States and Southeast Asian country may proclaim a joint declaration on September 24 that obliquely presses China over its recent behavior near disputed isles in the South China Sea.

China has been more and more strident in declaring its territorial claims, particularly maritime ones.

In the past week, it has balanced high-level exchanges with Japan and assured tough counter-measures following a court there extended the custody of the captain of a Chinese boat which collided with two Japanese coastguard ships near borderline islands.
