Hair care tycoon Anton Starling jailed for abusing step-daughter

http://news-updations.blogspot.comHAIR care tycoon Anton Starling was jailed on yesterday for at least 10 years for the repeated sexual abuse of his step-daughter.

After a two-month trial Judge Peter Zahra in Sydney's District Court lifted a suppression order, allowing Starling to be named.

Starling, 60, who made his fortune distributing the Joico hair products in Australia, was found guilty in April of sexually assaulting the girl, who cannot be named, at least 20 times between 2002 and 2007.

The court was told that the victim's mother began a relationship with Starling when her daughter was two, and the girl grew up and was thinking of him as a father figure.

He began abusing her on his farm near Bathurst, taking her to an isolated barn, and an olive grove and a cottage separate from the main house.

"It's a secret, don't tell your mum," he said.
