San Ramon police shoot and kill suspect

http://news-updations.blogspot.comSAN RAMON, California -- Authorities say that San Ramon police shot and killed a man suspected of trying to rob a convenience store at gunpoint.

Contra Costa Sheriff's Department of spokesman Jimmy Lee says the man, who has not been identified, entered a 7-Eleven around 2 a.m. Thursday, flashed a weapon and ordered the clerk to leave. He had been apparently arrived in a stolen vehicle.

The clerk then ran to a supermarket across the street and called 911.

Witnesses say police negotiated with the suspect and asked him to put down his weapon.

Lee says multiple officers opened fire, as the suspect raised his weapon at them in the store's parking lot. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The district attorney's office and the San Ramon police are investigating the shooting.
