Mexico Soldiers killed at least 25 supposed cartel members Thursday in a raid and gun battle in a Mexican state near the U.S. boundary that has become one of the most unsafe battlegrounds in the country's drug war.
A military airplane airborne over Ciudad Mier in Tamaulipas state dotted more than a few gunmen in front of a building, according to a report from Mexico's Defense Department.
When ground troops moved in, gunmen opened fire, starting a gun battle in which 25 alleged cartel members died, according to the military. The report said two soldiers were wounded.
