Libya rebels: talks for loyalist town have failed

Negotiations over the surrender of one of Moammar Gadhafi's residual strongholds have collapsed, and Libyan rebels are waiting for the green light to launch their final attack on the besieged town of Bani Walid, a spokesman said.

Rebel negotiator Abdullah Kanshil said the talks had busted down after Moussa Ibrahim, Gadhafi's chief spokesman and a top aide, had insist the rebels put down their weapons before entering the town, some 90 miles (140 kilometers) southeast of Tripoli.

Rebel forces control most of the oil-rich North African nation and are previously setting up a new government, but Gadhafi and his staunchest allies stay on the run and enjoy support in several central and southern areas, as well as Bani Walid and the fugitive leader's hometown of Sirte.

Libyan rebels storm seat of Gadhafi's power

Hundreds of Libyan rebels stormed Moammar Gadhafi's compound Tuesday, charge wildly through the symbolic heart of the crumbling regime since they kill loyalist troops, looted armories and knocked the head off a statue of the besieged dictator except they found no sign of the man himself.

Libyan rebels take most of Tripoli

Euphoric Libyan rebels took manage of most of Tripoli in a lightning advance Sunday, celebrating the victory in Green Square, the emblematic heart of Moammar Gadhafi's regime, Gadhafi's defenders quickly melted gone as his 42-year rule crumbled, but the leader's whereabouts were unidentified and pockets of resistance remained.

State TV broadcast Gadhafi's bitter pleas used for Libyans to defend his regime, Opposition fighters captured his son and one-time heir apparent, Seif al-Islam, who all along with his father faces charges of crimes against humanity on the International Criminal Court in the Netherlands another son was under house arrest.
