UK plans military team for Libya

Libya's foreign minister has warned Britain in opposition to deploying military specialist to help anti-Gaddafi forces, saying such a move would only delay the combating.

The UK government proclaimed overnight that it intends to send a group of military advisers to the rebel-controlled city of Benghazi to provide astuteness support and logistics guidance.

It comes as NATO express increasing frustration that its air strikes are failing to secure any noteworthy gains for the rebel forces that are hardly hanging on to the areas they manage.

But the Gaddafi regime is advising its own solution.

The foreign minister is calling for a armistice with a view to universal elections being held, and he's left open the likelihood that Libyans themselves can decide who governs them.

UK marine killed in Afghan blast

A Royal Marine has been killed in an explosion in Afghanistan, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) has confirmed.

The marine from 40 Commando was killed in an explosion while on foot patrol near Sangin in Helmand Province during the evening of 30 May.

His death brings the number of UK soldiers killed in Afghanistan to 289. His next of kin have been informed.

Task Force Helmand spokesman Lt Col James Carr-Smith praised the marine's "bravery and selfless commitment".

Schoolgirl Raped During End Of Exams Party

Police have appealed for help with their inquiries after a schoolgirl had been raped during an open-air party attended by more than 100 teenagers.

The youngsters had gathered on Hardwick Heath in Bury St Edmunds to celebrate the end of their GCSE exams on Friday night.

The 15-year-old girl was found in the park in a distressed state shortly after 10pm and taken to West Suffolk Hospital.

A spokeswoman for Suffolk Police said a rape inquiry had been launched.

"It is known about 100 young people were gathered on the heath between 8pm and 11pm on Friday night," she said.

"Police need to speak to them and anyone else who was in the area between these times to gather a full picture of what happened."

Hardwick Heath has been used as an unofficial party venue by teenagers for several years.

Local residents say there have not been any significant problems in the past.

Man guilty of Grimsby pregnant woman murder

A man who stabbed a pregnant woman in a random street attack has been convicted of her murder.

Alan McMullan attacked Claire Wilson, 21, as she walked to work in a Grimsby pizza restaurant last June.

Hull Crown Court heard Alan McMullan, 54, claimed voices had told him to harm people and he had previously received treatment from mental health services.

Alan McMullan, of Sherwood Road, Grimsby, had denied murder. Sentencing was adjourned until Thursday.

The judge said he could only pass a life sentence for the offense.

Thomas Cook workers Richard Carson, 28, and Nicola Gibson, 26, were found not culpable by a court in Corfu on Tuesday.

Hotel manager Georgios Chrysikopoulos, head of the hotel technical department Petros Stoyiannos and hotel electrician Christos Louvros, were each sentenced to 7 years.

Civil engineer Dimitrios Xidias was given 2 years on probation for breaching building regulations.

Designer Alexander McQueen took cocktail of drugs before suicide

LONDON — A British coroner has ruled the death of Alexander McQueen was a suicide, and said the designer hanged himself after taking cocaine, sleeping pills and tranquilizers.

Coroner Paul Knapman said Wednesday that Alexander McQueen was under pressure from work, “had a history of self-harm and, no doubt fueled by cocaine, he resorted to desperate measures to end his life.”

The inquest was told the designer was also “overwhelmed with grief” at his mother’s death days before.

Dr. Stephen Pereira, McQueen’s psychiatrist told the coroner’s court the designer was diagnosed with mixed anxiety and depressive disorder. He says Alexander McQueen had attempted suicide twice before.

McQueen’s body was found in his London apartment on February 11,the eve of his mother Joyce's funeral.

Missing mother of slayer schoolgirl Tia Rigg found safe

The mother of a 12 yr old girl who was wounded & strangled in Manchester has been found safe & well after going gone from her home.

Lynn Ahmed, 34, left from her home in Higher Broughton, in Salford, yesterday, 5 days after the body of her daughter, Tia Rigg, was improved. Her disappearance prompted fears that Ahmed was a suicide risk & police launched an urgent appeal to find her.

Two women's were try to smuggle body

Two women’s were arrested that the 91-year-old man was sleeping, after pushing him into the wheelchair & covered by sunglasses at terminal in Liverpool John Lennon airport, officials said.

Afghanistan blast kills British soldier

One more British soldier was killed in a firefight with insurgents on Sunday morning. From 2001, 272 UK service workers have died in Afghanistan.

The soldier killed in the gun battle on Sunday morning was from A Company 4 Rifles, more over the part of the 3 Rifles Battle Group. His name is yet to be released by the MoD.
